Joel Taets, 63, Moline, IL passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Allure of Moline under the care of Hospice. Visitation will be from 1-3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Joel Cris Taets was born on March 2, 1959 to Dale and Marilyn (Nusbaum) Taets in Rock Island. He graduated from Moline High School in 1977. He then, at the age of 19, moved to California and eventually managed a sign shop for Benchmark Graphics which was associated with Good Neighbor Pharmacies. Joel then spent his career installing signs for them all over the country and helped build the GNP brand.

Joel had a passion for woodworking and built some amazing furniture. He did rehab and repair work in homes sold by his dear friend, Dave Wright, who was in Real Estate.

Since the passing of his father in 2019, Joel returned to his childhood home to be his mother's fulltime caregiver.

Joel was a great cook, loved to golf, and was a Bears and Cubs fan.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Taets of Moline; sister, Laurie (Paul) Meiresonne of Milan; and brother, Robert (Mary Ann Pintor) Taets of Sun City, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale; and niece, Jill Meiresonne.
