John C. Bleuer, 89, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at his home. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those who wish to attend services should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be left to First Presbyterian Church, Milan.

John Crosby Bleuer was born on May 11, 1926 in Rock Island, a son of Harold L. and Jennie M. Crosby Bleuer. John married Joy Hawks on April 15, 1951 in Milan. He worked as an electrician at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 30 years. John was a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church, Milan, where he served as an elder and sang in the choir. He greatly enjoyed bowling and spending time with friends and family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joy; children, David, Douglas and Keith Bleuer, Jennie and Dave Fauser, Vera and Bob Rundlett and Heather and Jim Harroun; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Hallenbeck and Jeanne Bleuer, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Amy; sister, Patricia Carpenter and brother, James Bleuer.
