Please join us as we lay, John Calvin Coleman, 86, to rest on July 28th, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Family and friends are asked to meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, at 2:00 p.m. before proceeding to the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the cure for ALS.

John was born in Mahaska County, Iowa on October 8, 1930.

Long time Police Officer and Detective for the Rock Island Police force, he was also a Veteran Radio Officer of the Naval conflict in Korea. John lived out his retirement in Sierra Vista, Arizona. He loved fishing, working with stained glass and meeting his buddies at the coffee shop.

Preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Oral Staley Coleman, wives, Virginia and Nancy Coleman, and son Michael Coleman.

Survivors include son, Bill and Patricia Coleman of Chicago, Illinois and daughter, Karen Coleman Cook-Hudson of Davie, Florida along with several grand and great grand children
