John Michael Davies , 78, of Rock Island, IL, died January 13, 2022 at his home in Rock Island.

In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned at this time. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, is assisting the family. A burial of his ashes is being planned by his family. He will be laid to rest with his mother Mary Louise in Colorado.

John was born in Davenport, Iowa, on June 13, 1943. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1961, and went on to St. Ambrose University where he earned his degree in English.

John met the love of his life, Marielyn Arco, in Hong Kong in 1996. They married later that year in the Philippines, and their son Tommy was born a year later.

John worked up until his death, but the jobs he treasured the most were his work as a security guard and as a drummer. In John's spare time, he enjoyed lifting weights, playing the guitar and doing projects around the house. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marielyn, of Rock Island; son, Tommy Davies, Portland, OR; sister, Mary (Douglas) Cornick, Tucson, AZ; nieces, Michelle Jablanka, Colorado, and Christine Bowden, of California; and friends, Fred Macklin and Kathy, Rock Island.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Rita.
