John C. Engeland, 65, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors performed by Moline American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to the family.

John was born on June 5, 1950 in Moline, the son of Clifford and Juanita "Ruth" (Fiedler) Engeland.  He married Cheryle Keding on October 18, 1980 in Rock Island.  John worked at Tibor Machine Products doing maintenance.  He enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, pool and darts.  John was a car enthusiast and had a need for speed.

John is survived by his children, Danny (Shannon) Nelan, Loyal Gundrum, Stephanie (Jerry) Engeland, Brandie (Jordon) Durbin, and Russell Engeland; son-in-law, Brian Kinkead; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings, George Engeland, Cathy (Tom) Albertson, Eva Pierce, Ted Pierce, and Annette (Dennis) Porter; special friend Cindy Shock; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryle Engeland; parents; daughter, Johnetta Engeland-Kinkead; brother, Bernie Engeland; and sister Dee Dee Engeland.
