John T. Hankins, 82, of Rock Island, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Private graveside services for Mr. Hankins will be Saturday at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. John was born on December 6, 1935 in Mexico, Missouri, the son of Virgil and Dorothy (Ferrier) Hankins. He married Glenda Wardlow on April 13, 1957 in Rock Island. John and Glenda had just celebrated 61 years of marriage. Mr. Hankins worked as a machinist for International Harvester Works, Rock Island for 31 years. He enjoyed sports, gardening, family and his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Glenda; daughters, Julie (Pete) Vogel, Moline, Susan (Bill) Foss, Rock Island and Penny Hankins, Geneva, New York; grandchildren, John (Betsy) Vogel, Rachel (Jonathan) Quinn, Steven Vogel, Andrew Foss, Dallas Foss and Billie (Jeremy) Bersamira; great grandchildren, Marta, Sebastian, Elijah and one on the way; a sister, Karen (David) Waite, Davenport; and a sister in law, Billie Anderson, East Moline.
