John R. Harper, 93, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Monday November 24, 2014 at UPH-Trinity,
Rock Island.
Services will be 10:00am, Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan with Rev. Jim Ruberg officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00pm, Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home,
Milan. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Trinity United Methodist Church.
John was born on January 20, 1921 in Moline, the son of John and Eva (Simmon) Harper. He married Jean Hawks on June 14, 1942.
Mr. Harper farmed his entire life in the area. He had been employed as a mechanic with DeWitte Implement for 32 years.
John was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan for over 70 years, he was also a member of the Farm Bureau, where he served as a board member and served as Rural township road commisssioner. John enjoyed spending time with his children, watching softball and bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children and spouses, Mick (Chris) Harper, Taylor Ridge, Katie (Gene) Gillispie, Taylor Ridge, Tom Harper, Moline, Mary (Dion) Carr, Geneseo; grandchildren, Tom Gerard, Lorena (Doug) McMillan; great grandson, Jonathon McMillan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 half sisters.
