John Joseph "Jack" Lange, 81, of Milan, IL, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in Moline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the VVA Post 299. (Mourners are allowed to enter the Arsenal Island as part of the funeral procession.) Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 pm, Monday, April 7, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Milan, Illinois, where a rosary will also be recited at 3:30 pm. Memorials may be made out to the family.
John was born September 13, 1943, in St. Helena, NE, to Marlen and Caroline (Hausman) Lange. He was one of six children raised in Hartington, NE, a most beloved hometown to John. Before graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany.
John married Suzanne Mueck in 1968 and raised two children, Sharon and John. He later married Lisa Miers in 1993. They were married 29 years before she died in 2022.
John is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Mark) Bowker, of Rock Island, IL; grandsons Adam, Alexander, and Jason; his son, John II (Lisa) Lange and grandson Joshua of San Antonio, TX; siblings, Norma Aschoff of Des Moines, IA, Marlene (Marlin) Palmer of Tacoma, WA, Bonnie (Larry) Dooley of Yankton, SD, and Tom (Sue) Lange of Hartington, NE; and step-daughter Deanna Krulik and granddaughter Olivia Medina, Andalusia, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Parker Lange; his parents, Marlen and Caroline Lange; brothers, Parker, Rod, and LaMont Lange; and his wife, Lisa.
Thank you to the UnityPoint Hospice nurses of Rock Island for their patient care of John.
