John Richard Phillips, 67, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday June 1, 2025.

A private Celebration of Life with family will be held at a later date.

John was born on July 3, 1957 in Moline, the son of Billy Phillips and Lucille Edwards (Matthews).

John married his junior high sweetheart, Cheryl Green on April 6, 1974 in Rock Island.

Mr. Phillips worked at Leath Furniture for 31 years at both the Moline and Davenport locations. He later worked at Kraft foods, Davenport for 10 years before his retirement.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Cheryl Phillips; children, Mary Ann Phillips (Matthew), John (Nikki) Phillips Jr., Jennifer (Eric) Wilson; sister, Judy (Mark) Cheek, stepfather, Denney Matthews; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ashante), Natalie (Sam), John III, Amber, Jaylon, Jordan; great grandchildren, Jiovanni, Aliana, Jeneo, Xavier, Jasiah, Juahxisco and Amiylah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Lucille; sister, Janet Jolly; and his beloved dog, Bunny.
