John W. Rossow, 80, of Rock Island, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at his home. Cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society.

John was born in Chicago on June 12, 1935, a son of Ernst H. and Leonor M. Suarez Rossow. John graduated from Rock Island High School and received his bachelor's degree from Knox College.

John married Betty Fisher on June 22, 1957 in Rock Island. He worked 28 years as a foreman for John Deere Plow & Planter Works, retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed collecting coins, Canadian fishing trips, golfing, and taking family trips to northern Wisconsin. John was an avid sports fan and a diehard Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Rossow, Rock Island; children (and spouses), Lisa Rossow, Rock Island, Kathy (Tony) Mazzoni, St. Louis, Mo., Bill (Vicki) Rossow, Bettendorf and Ted (Tami) Rossow, Davenport; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Sundquist, Oconomoc, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ernest "Jack" Rossow.
