John Harder Sr., aged 89, of Aledo, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been granted, and there will be no formal services held. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan is assisting the family during this difficult time.
Born on January 3, 1936, in Moline, Illinois, John was the beloved son of Victor and Sabina Blyaert Harder. He entered into holy matrimony with Beverly Durham on December 10, 1958, in Iowa City. She preceded him in death in 2004.
A proud United States Air Force veteran, John dedicated his professional life to his work as a machinist and foreman at the Rock Island Arsenal, where he was respected by colleagues and friends alike.
John leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories through his three daughters: Julie Neuleib of Ohio, Mary Kay (Bill) Wallace of Silvis, Illinois; and Beverly (Kelly) Dinger of Wisconsin. He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren, as well as several great-great grandchildren. In addition, he is also survived by his best friend, Rob and a wonderful community of neighbors.
He is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Beverly; his parents; his sister, Joann Harder; his brothers, Emo and Dale Harder; and his son-in-law, Larry Neuleib.
Although no formal services will be held, the family invites all those who knew and loved John to reflect on their own cherished memories during this time of remembrance. Online condolences and heartfelt expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at wheelanpressly.com.
