John R. Terfler, 54, of Rock Island, died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home.  A funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

John was born in Milwaukee, Wisc. on April 18, 1964, a son of Raymond and Alma Jane Ungs Terfler.

John was a self-employed painter.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed cooking, skiing, running and biking.

John was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Mary (Anthony) Ticknor, Hilliard, OH, Joseph (Donna) Terfler, Cedar Rapids, IA and Michael Terfler, Moline; and nieces and nephews, Samantha and Andrea Ticknor and Nicholas, Noah and Maxwell Terfler.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
