John “Tom” Jansen, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island with visitation one hour prior to mass at the church. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island.

Tom was born February 17, 1936 in Iowa City, IA, the son of John A. and Elizabeth (Kranz) Jansen. He married Kathryn Kealey on December 27, 1958 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2018.

Tom retired from John Deere and Co as Division Manager after more than thirty-eight years.

Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island where he was a lector, trustee and on the finance committee. He enjoyed golfing, but most of all loved spending time with family.

Survivors include his children, Ann (Brent) Michelson, Des Moines, IA, John (Julie) Jansen, Pleasant Prairie, WI and James (Lisa) Jansen, Rock Island; grandchildren, Sarah (Jordan “Hoss”)VerSteeg, Claire (Ross) Stickler, Andrew Jansen and Emily Jansen; great-grandchildren, Lyle John VerSteeg and Margaret Ann Stickler; sister, Elizabeth “Bette” Jansen, Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family is grateful for the staff at Friendship Manor and the loving care they gave to Tom.
