John W. Young Sr., 69, Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home.

A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.

John was born September 28, 1946 in Fresno, CA, the son of Frank J. and Dorothy (Jeffery) Young. He married Linda McFarland on August 9, 1986 in Davenport, IA. John worked as an auto body repairman. He was a musician and enjoyed cooking, especially his famous BBQ sauce. John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and wife.

John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Young, Rock Island; children, John W. Young Jr. and his girlfriend Tracy, Bettendorf; Fay Carter, Waterloo, Frank J. (Linsey Saddoris) Young III, Clinton, and Amy (Wesley) Long, Rock Island; multiple grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronnie (Connie) Young, California, Steve (Sheila) Young, Phoenix, Larry (Alicia) Young, Florida, Mike (JoJo) Young, Phoenix, Greg (Cathy) Young, Rock Island, Patty (Gary) Taylor, Rock Island, Cheryl Young, Phoenix, Carol Davis, Phoenix, Lisa McCoy, Phoenix, Lucky (Connie) Carlson, Buffalo, Iowa and Mike (Violet) Miller, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tony Young, and two brother-in-laws, Kevin McCoy and Randy Davis.
