Johnny L. Rawlins, 68, of Rock Island, formerly of Chicago, passed away Sunday July 20, 2014 at his home.

A Visitation and Remembrance will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22nd, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Coventry Apartments, Rock Island.

Johnny Leon Rawlins was born July 13, 1946 in Chicago, IL, a son of Elijah Rawlins and Lucy Lee Hall. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed at the Knickerbocker Hotel and later at H & H Restaurant, both in Chicago. Johnny enjoyed listening to Sam Cooke music. His favorite saying was "Look-a-here, I'm a Marine ! ".

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sisters and brother (and spouses), Ametra (Salvador) Carrol-Castaneda, Rock Island, Patricia (Morris) Carrol-Barber, Davenport, Robert D. (Creta) Carrol, Rock Island, and TaJuana (Anthony) Carrol-Williams, Matteson, IL; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Francis and LaVerne.

He was preceded by his father, mother, Lucy Lee Hall-Carrol, stepfather, John Henry Carrol, sister, Earlie M. Lewis, and brothers, McKinley and Anthony Carrol.
