Jose Hernandez Cabrera, 83, of Rock Island passed away Thursday May 31, 2018 in Rock Island. In accordance with his wishes, funeral services and burial will be in Mexico at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements. Jose was born September 28, 1934 in San Antonio Carupo, Michoacán, Mexico, a son of Luis and Concepsion Cabrera Hernandez. He married Luisa Rodriguez on January 1, 1960 in San Antonio Carupo, Michoacán. He was a farmer in Mexico for many years. Jose loved to play guitar and sing with a Mariachi Band. He also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. Surviving are his wife, Luisa, of Rock Island; children, Concepsion, of Calif., Jovita, Rock Island, Evangelina, Calif., Gloria, Mauricio and Jose, all of Rock Island; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Florentino, Rafael, and Aurelio, all of Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; son, Silvestre; sister, Trina; and brothers, Miguel, Luis and Salvador.
