Rev. Joseph G. Arrington, Jr., 89, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home.

Services are 12:00 p.m. (noon) Friday at Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island, IL, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial, with military honors, will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island.

Joseph was born March 12, 1927 in Lake Providence, LA, the son of Joseph, Sr., and Fannie (Casson) Arrington. He married Wilma F. Kimmins on April 16, 1966.

Joseph was a World War II and Korean War veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force and U.S. Air Force.

He was the pastor of Derrick's Temple Church of God in Christ for 16 years. He also was a truck driver for Watt's Disposal of Rock Island for over 30 years.

He currently was a member of New Birth of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ. He enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma, of Rock Island; children (and spouses), Joyce (Garry) Bogguess, Rock Island, Krine (Willie) Arrington Lagrone, Panama City, FL, Vernice (Andre) Johnson, Rock Island, Simone (Moses) Woods, Indianapolis, IN, Andre Kimmins, Marshalltown, IA, David Wires, Newton, IA, Eric (Tina) Wires, Anamosa, IA, Joseph (Sarah) Arrington III, Rock Island, Loren (Briana) Arrington, Rock Island, and Matthew Arrington, Rock Island; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James Arrington
