Joseph T. Healy, 92, of Rock Island, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be presented by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 299. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alleman High School Baseball Program or to the St. Ambrose University Athletic Department.

Joseph T. Healy was born April 17, 1922 in Chicago, the son of Earl and Euterpa Shea Healy. He married Dolores M. O'Donnell on September 19, 1946 in Rock Island. She died June 25, 2011.

Joe retired from Illinois Bell Telephone in 1979, where he worked as the assistant manager of the service center.

Joe was a WW II U.S. Army Air Force veteran. He enjoyed all sports especially baseball and playing golf. Joe had a hole-in-one in April 1992 while playing golf in Sun City West, Ariz. He always loved and enjoyed the time he could spend with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Evelyn Healy, Rock Island, Jim and Suzanne Healy, Davenport and Joe and Tammie Healy, Rock Island; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Richard Lemke, Rock Island; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and sister, Marlene Spelz.
