Obituary

Joseph Glenn Sheil, 87, a life long resident of Rock Island,
passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 24, 2014,
after an extended illness and is now in the care of Our Lord.

Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island on
Monday,
December 29th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Mass of
Christian
Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entoumbment will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock
Island.
In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to Alleman High School,
Friendship Manor,
or Women's Choice Center of the Quad Cities.

The son of Mary Allice (Glenn) and Edward John Sheil, Joseph Glenn was
born
October 16, 1927, in Rock Island. He attended St. Joseph's School and
graduated from St. Ambrose Academy. He married Arlyne Mae Duckett on
Aug. 26, 1950. The couple celebrated 60 year of marriage until her
passing in 2010.

Prior to his retirement in 1990, Glenn was employed as a steamfitter
and pipe estimator. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local
25 and Knights of Columbus, where he served as past Grand Knight.
Glenn was a member of the Quad-City Mohawks Football team
and proudly served his country as a member of the US Navy.

He leaves behind three daughters; Theresa Jo Sheil, New York City,
Kathy (Carl) Schneider, and Mary Lou (James) Hammer all of
Palatine,Ill.;
two granddaughters: Kara (Drew) Waddell and Kally (Justin) Walsh; and
three great-grandchildren: Miles Waddell, Darby Grace and Raegan Carlyle
Walsh. Glenn is preceeded in death by his parents, brother Edward, and
his wife.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Frindship Manor
for their
kind and compassionate care. They would also like to thank his loyal
friends:
Smitty, Dolly, Anne, and Whitey for their constant support and
friendship.
