Joseph W. Thomas, 59, of Grand Mound, IA, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Genesis – DeWitt.  Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joseph was born on March 5, 1963 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Richard and Mary (Betoni) Thomas.  He married Deena Twitty on November 19, 1992 in Scottsdale, AZ.  Joseph worked in the maintenance department at Family Dollar.  He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army, and retiring from the Army National Guard, 123, Milan, where he spent a year in Iraq.   Joseph enjoyed watching NASCAR and woodworking.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Deena Thomas; children, Chelsey and Ian Thomas; sisters, Vicki (Craig) Bell and Jeanie Twitty; brother-in-law, Wade (Vikki) Twitty; and nieces, Jennifer, Nova, and Christy.  He was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, Daniel and Tyler; and father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Sharon Twitty.
