Joseph A. Verschoore, 83, of Geneseo, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American legion Post 246. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to any veteran's organization or to a favorite charity.
Joseph A. Verschoore was born Nov. 29, 1931 in Rock Island, a son of Arthur and Loretta McManus Verschoore. He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Vruble on Oct. 31, 1953 in Rock Island.
Joe was an active Quad-City businessman having sold real estate and insurance.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Joe attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan and was a member of the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Mary Verschoore, Fishers, Ind., Steven and Marta Verschoore, Rock Island, and David and Karen Verschoore, O'Fallon, Mo.; grandchildren, Ryan, Abby, Austin and Jacob; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Sharon Verschoore, Moline, and Pat and Char Verschoore, Milan; sisters-in-law, Karen Verschooore, Milan, and Virginia Verschoore, Taylor Ridge; and brother-in-law, Tom Maloney, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don and Paul Verschoore; and sisters, Jean McGinnis Maloney and Mary Bell.
