Joyce L. Esser, 74, of Rock Island, formerly of Kewanee, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.  Cremation rites were accorded.  A graveside service will be 11 am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kewanee.  Memorials may be made in care of the Parkinson's Foundation.

Joyce was born in Kewanee on July 24, 1944, a daughter of Anton C. and Frances Packee Goodman.  She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1962.

Joyce married William "Bill" Esser on May 2, 1964 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Kewanee.

Joyce sold Avon for many years.  She also loved going to garage sales and antiques.  In fact, she sold antiques with a great friend, Joyce Wiser, for many years at an antique booth in Coal Valley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 54 years, William "Bill" Esser, Rock Island; son, Michael A. (Dawn) Esser, Winterset, Iowa; grandchildren, Luke William Esser and Gabriel Jacob Esser; sister, Judith Erickson, Morton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Ann Frances Esser.
