Obituary

Joyce Warner Leatherman, 84, of Bettendorf, died on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 surrounded by her family.

A Requiem Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Trinity Anglican Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be held from 9:30AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.

Joyce was born on October 11, 1932, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur Emmett and Mildred Lucille (Ingersoll) Warner. She married Lamont Leatherman on February 24, 1951 in Rock Island. Lamont preceded her in death in 2009. Joyce most enjoyed staying home and raising her family of three children.  Later, she was employed as a florist for Lamps Flower Shop and also at Bonnet's Wholesale Florist.  After retirement, Joyce and Lamont sold their home to travel throughout most of the United States for the next thirteen years.  In recent years, Joyce enjoyed traveling to visit her grandchildren and new great grandchildren.

Joyce is survived by three children.  Son Steve and his wife Linda Leatherman live in Plainfield, Illinois, with their children Lian, Lusi and Lili.  Daughter Lorri and her husband Lee Nelson live in Davenport, Iowa. Lorri and Lee's children are Hettie (Jay) Kill of Albuquerque, New Mexico, with their children Evelyn, Henry, Charles and Harold; Tallie (Anthony) Sertich of Duluth, Minnesota, with their son Samuel; and Lucille (Erik) Holmgreen of St Peter, Minnesota, with their son Oskar.  Son David and his wife Elma Leatherman live in Melrose Park, Illinois; their sons Alexander and Spencer Leatherman live in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Joyce is also survived by a sister Phyllis Barbee of Moline, Illinois, and Patrick Warner with wife Linda of East Moline, Illinois. Joyce is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Lamont and her parents.
