Joyce Work, 89, of Milan passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving children.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society or Niabi Zoo.

Joyce was born on August 27, 1934 in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of Wilber and Gertrude (Vieth) Woehlk. She worked as a homemaker, a clerk at McCullough's Department Store and then as bookkeeper for Blackhawk Township for over 13 years.

Joyce, aka Grams, aka Grandma J, aka Joyceepoo, had the most infectious smile and laugh. She could be described as nothing short of sparkly, lighting up any room she walked into. She enjoyed golfing, happy hour and spending time with her family, her "peeps". She was also part of the Milan Women's Club for several years.

Those left to cherish Joyce's memory include her children, Richard (Julie) Work, Milan, Deanna (Dean) Snow, Milan, Michele (Brad) Sharp, Milan and Jolene (Randy) Welser, Moline; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bennett Welser; and siblings, Judy King, Carol Shaw, Sandy Anderson and Gary Woehlk.

Her family would like to thank Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab and Compassus Hospice Care for their wonderful care.
