Juanita K. Brown, 71, Rock Island, IL passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at her home while under the care of hospice surrounded by family and friends. There will be a visitation from 1-2:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. The service will be livestreamed at� https://vimeo.com/925013496 . Memorials may be made to the family.
Juanita was born on August 29, 1952 to Joseph and Patricia (Trujillo) Valle in Davenport, IA. She grew up in Davenport and graduated from West High School. She then attended AIC and Blackhawk College. Juanita was employed briefly at the Arsenal before starting her 40-year career in childcare. She owned and operated her own daycare for 20 years and then worked at P & J Tender Care until her retirement.
Juanita loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved watching the Cubs, Bears, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Rock Island. She had a strong faith in her God, Jehovah, and ministered full-time spreading his word.
She is survived by her son, Christopher (Liz) Brown; grandchildren, Bianca and Christopher Brown Jr; Lauren Dortch-Swift; siblings, Susie (Jay) Fuller, Victoria Valle, Tony Valle, Steven Valle, Mary Kehoe, Ralph Valle, Rudy (Kim) Valle, Alice (Rick) Dickinson, and Ronald Valle; brothers-in-law, Lawrence McCullough and Dennis Dolan; honorary siblings, Marie and Lewis Hoskins and Carrie Blair; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Peter Valle, John Valle, Joseph Valle Jr., Louie Valle, Juanita Valle, Robert Valle, Patrick Valle, Josie Dolan, and RoseMary McCullough.
