Judith Celia Sokol, 83, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her home.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1608 13th St, Moline, IL, 61265. This event will be livestreamed and can be viewed at the following link, https://vimeo.com/918168725. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 am on Friday at church. Interment will be later at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums, Niles, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.

Judy was born on March 19, 1940, in Hammond, IN, to John and Celia (Gratkowski) Kwasny. In June 1961, she took her vows as a Nun. She graduated in 1967 as an RN. After leaving the convent in 1970, she worked as a nurse in many places over the years. She especially enjoyed working as a hospice nurse in Texas, from which she had many stories to share.  Judy married Anthony William Sokol on May 24, 1975, in Chicago, IL.

Judy was a life-long devoted member of the Catholic church. Judy lived her life loving and serving others. She enjoyed sending cards to those she cared about, including sending monthly packages to nursing home patients. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, including many phone conversations, hugs, and laughter.

Those left to cherish her memory are her step-children, Anthony (Lori) Sokol Jr., Angelo Sokol, Naomi (Phil) Valentino; grandchildren, Holly, Scott, Jeffrey, Christopher, Kathiane, Garret, Andjelko (jr), Steven, Stephanie, Samantha, Melissa, Nicholas, Amanda; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda (Dan) Kowalczyk, and Ellen (Dan) Dammann.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Anthony; son, Matthew Sokol; step-son, David Sokol; grandson, Brian Sokol; infant brother, John; and sisters, Jackie Fields, and Barbara Lawniczak.
