Julie M. Jackson, 49, Milan, IL passed away after an eleven-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice. There will be a visitation from 4-7:00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to go towards her sons' college.

Julie was born on May 24, 1975 to Loren and Donna (Freed) Hoke in Rock Island, IL. She graduated from Rock Island High School with the Class of 1993.

On August 2, 2003 she was united in marriage to John Jackson at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Milan.

Julie worked as a dog groomer for a time, and then did packing and shipping for Barjan. After her sons were born she was a playground supervisor at Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Milan and a homemaker.

Julie never met a stranger and would talk to anyone she met. She was involved with Gilda's Club and a member of St. Ambrose. Making greeting cards was one of her recent favorite hobbies. But her favorite thing to do was spend time with her boys especially attending their concerts and being a band mom. They were her pride and joy.

Julie is survived by her husband, John; sons, Alexander and Mark Jackson; mother, Donna; siblings, Lisa Gehl and Michael Hoke; special aunts, Judy Freed, Sue Buddin, and Barb Laughlin; and special brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Eastland.

She was preceded in death by her father.
