Julie Elizabeth Morrison, 51, of Rock Island, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at home.
A memorial service celebrating her life is planned for 1pm, Sunday, May 17 at Ascension Chapel Augustana College. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your favorite charity or organization. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family.
Julie was born September 14, 1963 in Libertyville, Illinois daughter of William and Judith (Gregory) Tegtmeyer. She married Michael C. Morrison on August 12, 1988.
Julie graduated Libertyville High School in 1981, Augustana College and received her MBA from St. Ambrose University.
Julie worked at Modern Woodmen of America for 28 years, as an Actuarial Technician. She enjoyed her work, and the people she worked with.
Julie's hobbies included knitting and needlework. She was a former president of the Mississippi River Valley Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America. She was one of the founders of the Fireside Knitters, a group that meets at the Fairmount Branch of the Davenport Public Library. She worked on projects for the Modern Woodmen Honor Flight helping make blankets for each Veteran, knitting caps for newborn babies, and a linen bed canopy at the Colonel Davenport House on Arsenal Island, as well as numerous gifts for family and friends. She was a true artist.
Julie enjoyed baking and making her famous award winning fudge, enjoyed by all.
She was an avid sports fan with a terrific knowledge of sports trivia in a wide variety of sports.
Surviving are her husband Michael Morrison; parents, William and Judith Tegtmeyer, Libertyville, IL; mother-in-law Marilyn Morrison, Rock Island, IL; brother James Tegtmeyer, Green Bay, WI; sister Jill (Michael) Tegtmeyer, Libertyville, IL; brother Jeffery Tegtmeyer (Elizabeth), Libertyville, IL; brother-in-law Jonathan Morrison (Adrienne), Parkland, FL; brother-in-law David Morrison, Ames, IA.
Aunts and uncles; Andrew Gregory, Nancy and David Cox, Ted and Beverly Hutchcroft.
Nieces and nephews; Scott, Leah, and Kiley Tegtmeyer; Hailey Bishop, Austin Corcoran; Will, Max, and Jackson Tegtmeyer; Sarah, Jacob, Gillian, Taylor Morrison; and great-niece Renee Tegtmeyer.
Julie also leaves behind her beloved cats Augie and Bailey.
Proceeded in death by her grandparents, aunt Margaret, and father-in-law Donald Morrison.
