Julie C. Daxon, 51, of Bettendorf, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial is at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association. Julie Catherine Young was born June 18, 1965 in Moline, a daughter of Michael and Kathy Collins Young. She married Steven R. Daxon on Nov. 2, 2001 in Jamaica. Julie graduated from Bettendorf High School, where she was involved in may activities, including being a cheerleader. She graduated from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Julie served as the accountant, as well as assisting her husband in the management of Daxon Construction, Rock Island. She was a member of Oakwood Country Club, Coal Valley and enjoyed doing cross stitch, golfing, boating and traveling. She was strong, yet gentle, surviving cancer during her college days. Julie cared about others, even praying for peace and comfort to come to her family as she endured her illness. She loved the sun and it can be said that her smile brightened a room, just like the sun. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Steve; children, Bryan (Ember) Daxon, Bettendorf, and Michele Daxon, East Moline; her mother, Kathy Young, Bettendorf; sisters, Chris (Dan) Fox, Bettendorf, Susie Young (John Carlson), Moline, and Mary Beth Young, Davenport.
