June A. Sims , 76, of Rock Island died Saturday, June 25th, surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.

A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, July 6th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave. in Rock Island from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM. Private family inurnment will be Thursday, July 7th at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.

June Ann was born on March 27th, 1946 in Rock Island County to Sidney & Dorothy (Somers) McKeag. She married Ronald Sims on September 23, 1966 in Rock Island, Illinois.

An energetic and devoted mother, June was actively involved in her children's schools and enjoyed volunteering whenever an opportunity arose. She had a gift for taking care of the elderly and positively impacted many lives with her caring and compassionate ways. A proud farmer's daughter, June had a passion for gardening and spending time outdoors.

June is survived by her two children and their spouses; Julie (Kevin) Anderson of Port Byron IL and Scott (Beth) Sims of Eden Prairie MN. Grandchildren; Amber (Colin) Girot, Alyssa (William) Tessendorf, Angela Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Ethan Sims and Maren Sims; as well as three great-grandchildren. Siblings: Marilyn Bennett of Milan, Joan Cumberworth of New Boston, Sue (Gilbert) Lingle of Sherrard and Tom (Chris) McKeag of Milan. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, infant son Shawn, parents, brother Sonny McKeag and sister Sherry Bieri.
