June E. Schoessel, 94, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Funeral services are Noon Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial is at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 11 am until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

June E. Boomershine was born Aug. 21, 1921 in Rock Island, the daughter of Erval and Anna Holdt Boomershine. She married Glenn E. Schoessel in Rock Island. He died in 1971.

In early years, June had worked as a switch board operator for Illinois Bell Telephone. She later worked in the circulation department of the Moline Dispatch.

June was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. She was also a member of the Silver Cross Circle of King's Daughters, Rock Island, Ladies Day Out (formerly Y Wives) and several card clubs. June was a charter member of the former Mill Creek Country Club, Milan, now the Pinnacle Country Club. She enjoyed playing cards and golf.

Survivors include her son-in-law, Dale Bacon, Rock Island; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris Boomershine, Rock Island; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; childrern, Terry Schoessel, Debra Goyins, Christine Bacon and Gregory Schoessel; and her brother, Calvin Boomershine.
