J.W. Hickman, 83 of Rock Island, entered eternal rest on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at home.

There will be a visitation from 10:30AM-12:00 PM with a funeral service following at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023 at People's Missionary Baptist Church in Rock Island. Burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.

J.W. was born May 12, 1940 in Preston; MS. He married Mae Rose Hickman at a young age in Preston MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Ollie Hickman; his daughter, Vicky Hickman, 9 sisters and 7 brothers. He leaves behind his sons, Charles Hickman, Troy Hickman, Gary Hickman, Jeremy Marvell and Joshua Jones; his daughters, Belinda Hickman and Roma Hickman; 2 sisters, Valentine Gully and Gloria Sanderson; and his special friend, Cindy Doss; along with a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.

J.W. was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed just sitting out by the water and in the yard relaxing and enjoying the company of others.

He will be missed by all who knew him.
