Karen Jean Collins, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Friday December 23, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Friday December 30, 2016 at
Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will
be from 12pm to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow
in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left in Karen's
name to her family.
Karen was born on July 7, 1948 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of William L. and Mary "Virginia" (Hamilton) Weisenborn. She married Merwin "Butch" Collins on May 25, 1968.
She was a graduate of Rock Island High School and later Blackhawk College.
Mrs. Collins had been employed at Davenport Electric Contract Company for many years.
Karen loved spending time at home, cooking, and hosting family gatherings.  She enjoyed her sewing club friendships and collecting recipes. The love and dedication Karen showed to  her children and grandchildren was extraordinary. Survivors include her husband, Butch; children and spouses, Douglas(Karna) Collins, Dallas, TX, Jennifer(Tom) Kyriazopoulos, Roscoe, IL, Mandy Collins, Rock Island; grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Quinn, Aaron, Katy, Nathan, Elly, Shaylin, Kayla and Ava; brother, Clayton(Brenda) Weisenborn and sister, Barbara(Mike) Murrin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
