Karen M. Foster, 55, of Sherrard, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at home. Services will be 11 am Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. An additional hour of visitation will be from 10 - 11 am Friday. Burial will be at a later date in Sherrard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Karen was born in Geneseo on September 10, 1958, a daughter of Francis and Donna Hull Taets. Karen graduated from Orion High School. She married Loren Duane Foster on April 2, 1977 in Green Rock, Ill.

Karen was a homemaker and worked in customer service for many years. She later attended Trinity Health System Nursing School where she made the National Honors Society graduating in 2011. She then worked as Registered Nurse at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island.

Karen loved all sports with baseball being her passion. She coached little league and was a member of the Sherrard Athletic Sports Booster Club and the Phi Beta Kappa Sorority.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Loren D. Foster, Sherrard; children (and spouses), Loren "Matt" (Molly) Foster, Steven Foster and Nicholas (Trista) Foster, all of Sherrard; grandchildren, Kade, Eli, Gretchyn, Kylie, Audrey and one on the way; mother, Donna Taets Grieve, Geneseo; sisters, Gina Taets, Geneseo and LeeAnn (Paul) Hammett, Savannah, Ga.; brothers, Chuck (Theresa) Taets, Geneseo and Jim (Lynn) Taets, Austin, Tex.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Loren E. and Martha Foster, Sherrard; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
