Karen "Suzie" (Stimpson) Budde, 71, of Milan, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm, Friday, November 1, 2024 in the St. Damien Center of the church, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family. The family requests if you are attending to please wear a mask if you are feeling unwell to protect immunocompromised members. In addition, a livestream broadcast of the mass will be available at https://www.facebook.com/SacredHeartMoline.
Suzie Stimpson was born on August 4, 1953, in Rock Island, a daughter of Thomas and Ruth Marie (Lange) Stimpson. She graduated from Alleman High School and worked at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.
Suzie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 33 years, Daniel Budde; her daughters Bridget (Ted) Wells and Rachel (Matt) Budde-Wilkins; her grandchildren, Tanner, Spencer, Hunter, Sidney, Jamey, Ashlan, Madeline and Ethan; her great-grandson, Alastair; her siblings, Dennis (Linda) Stimpson, Terry Stimpson, Mary Knox, and Patty (Phil) Wilson; sister in law, Ann R. "Ricki" (Miller) Stimpson; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins, whom she adored.
Suzie was often described as having the voice of an angel. She shared her talents and love of music throughout her life. She sang at countless masses, weddings, funerals, and quinceanera celebrations in the Quad City community. She was the Director of Music at both Sacred Heart Church of Rock Island and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline as well as performing for masses at St. Anne Catholic Church in East Moline. Over the years, she directed funeral choirs, children's choir, and teen choir. She founded the New Spirit Singers who traveled and sang for Saint Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in Rome.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Gary Stimpson.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline or to Alleman High School, Rock Island.
