IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kari Jo
"Tweety" Porter
October 1, 1973 – June 4, 2025
Kari Jo Porter, also affectionately known as "Tweety", a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished "Memaw", passed away on June 4, 2025, at the age of 51 in Blue Grass, Iowa. She was born on October 1, 1973, in Davenport, Iowa, to Elmer and Mary (Heather) Kenney. An extraordinarily artistic soul, Kari found joy in drawing, painting, and crafting. She had a unique talent for restoring and repurposing items others deemed old, breathing new life into them with her creativity. Her love for nature was evident in her need to be outside among the flowers, which served as a reflection of her vibrant personality and serene spirit. She found her peace in creating a clean and welcoming home, where family and friends could gather and share moments of laughter and love.
Kari shared her life with her beloved husband, Max Porter, who she married on August 11, 2012. She loved taking motorcycle rides with Max, feeling the exhilaration of the open road beneath her as they journeyed together. Family was everything to Kari; they were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Kari is survived by her husband, Max; mother, Mary Kenney; children, Tyler (Emily) Heather, Savannah (Darren) Dau, Dakotah "Cody" Hebeler, and Kelsey (TJ) Donohue; grandchildren, Ethan, Jaxxon, Brice, Colton, Harper and little Kari Jo expected in October; brother, James Kenney; and her cousin (more of a sister), Kay Coyne. Kari was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Kenney; son, Jimmy Porter; and sister Beth Ann Langfeldt. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island at 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made in care of the family. During this time, family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Kari's life and the incredible impact she had on those around her by wearing her favorite color, yellow. A celebration of life will also be held at a later date. Kari's spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and the memories they created together. We invite all who knew her to honor her legacy by sharing their stories and memories with the family online at www.wheelanpressly.com.
