Karin C. Wilker, 84, of Rock Island, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services are 10 am Monday at First Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
Karin Charlotte Gustafson was born Feb. 4, 1933 in Rock Island, a daughter of Carl O. and Edith C. Johanson Gustafson. She married Duane G. Wilker on Oct. 12, 1957 at First Lutheran Church.
Karin graduated from Rock Island High School in 1951 and later from Black Hawk College, Moline receiving her nursing degree. She retired from the Kahl Home, Davenport in 1995, where she had been the fourth floor supervisor. She had previously worked in the formula department at the former St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport. In her retirement she worked part-time for the Quad City Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
She was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church, Rock Island, serving on the Church Council at the time of her death, the Prayers and Squares quilting group and WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church). Karin was also a member of the Kaydee Circle of King's Daughters, Moline, was an avid quilter and had been a volunteer at the Col. Davenport House on the Rock Island Arsenal.
Survivors include her husband, Duane; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela J. and David King, Rock Island; son, Douglas D. Wilker, Austin, Tx.; grandchildren, Birgitta Lundin and Nils Lundin; step-grandchildren, Kara King and Molly King; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kaleb, Lanell, Damarion, Ella, Gabriel, Evan, Kendall, Donovon, and Zakery. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Gustafson; and sister, Linnea Palm.
