Karla K. McKinney, 77 of Milan, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. A memorial service for Mrs. McKinney will be 10:30 am, Monday October 5th at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center, Milan. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan is assisting the family.

Karla was born on August 12, 1938 in Moline, the daughter of Chester Spangler and Imogene Lauderman Spangler. She married Floyd N. "Spoog" McKinney on November 23, 1958 in Crawfordsville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2014. Karla was a registered nurse, working at the Mississippi Valley Blood Center until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island.

Karla loved her family and loved to bake. Her pies, cakes and pastries were a delight to friend and family alike. She enjoyed her role as wife, mother, and grandmother and, along with her husband Spoog, spent many hours playing and enjoying the grandkids. A Christian, she loved God and shared her faith wanting others to see him through her. Working with her flowers, playing with Sadie, camping with family, church and church family, watching the Packers play and spending time with Spoog, Joy, Janet, and Jeff were just some of the things she loved to do. Her love of life and heart of gold will be missed but the memories we all carry of her will forever bring a smile to our face and warmth to our hearts.

Survivors include her children, Joy (Robert) Pilcher, Colona, Janet (Harold) Danger, Roscoe, IL. and Jeff (Tina) McKinney, Rock Island; grandchildren, Marco, Isaac, Lance, Laura, Briana, Bethany, Kristin, Aaron, Sara, George and Marte; eight great grandchildren and her little dog Sadie.
