Katherine "Kathy" L. Crooks, 71, of Davenport, formerly of Rock Island and Sterling, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Country Manor Memory Care, Davenport.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. There is no committal service at this time as Kathy will be donating her body to the University of Iowa for medical research, before being cremated. Memorials may be made in care of the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.

Kathy was born on March 12, 1951 in Rock Island, a daughter of Robert and Elsie (Eklund) Johnson. She attended BlackHawk College, where she got her degree in nursing. She married Richard Rudsell and then later Marvin Crooks, who preceded her in death. She worked at Oak Glen Nursing Home in Coal Valley from 1987-1990, at various hospitals in the Quad Cities, and as a travel nurse for Jersey Shore Medical Center from 1998-2003. She most recently worked as a home healthcare nurse for Help at Home from 2003-2020. Kathy's favorite hobby was shopping and she enjoyed spending time with her cats.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Adam Crooks, Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Westerhof Crooks, Davenport, IA, Caleb John Westerhof Crooks, Davenport, IA, Heather Rudsell, Milan, IL, Elizabeth Rudsell, Keithsburg, IL, Montana Dexter, Seaton, IL, Erica Rudsell, Millersburg, IL; and one great-grandson, Parker, on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric L. Rudsell; infant daughter, Bethany Dyan Crooks; and great granddaughter, Paisley, who passed in April of 2022.

The family would like to thank Genesis for their help and care of Kathy throughout her hospital stays and time under hospice care.
