Kathleen A. Carius, 95, of Rock Island, formerly of Moline, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Private funeral services are Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Entombment is in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island.  There is no visitation.  Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Kathleen Anna Swanson was born Aug. 27, 1921 in Moline, a daughter of Carl O. and Olga R. Hilderbrandt Swanson.  She married William P. Carius on Nov. 30, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa.  He died Oct. 28, 2003.

Kathleen had been a member of the King's Daughters, the Auxiliaries of both Lutheran and Moline Public Hospitals and enjoyed playing cards with friends in a 500 card club.  Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Allan Carius, Milan, and William "Buddy" and Diane Carius, Sherrard;  daughter and son-in-law, Kayann and George Christison; Bettendorf; grandchildren, Julie Ann Strahl, West Chicago, Ill., Brant Allan Carius, Bettendorf, and Christina Marie (Aaron) Pagett, Taylor Ridge;  great grandchildren, Cate Strahl, Sara Strahl, William Carius, Caleb Carius, Anna Carius, Clayton Pagett, and Lillian Pagett.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William; sister, Gloria Geisler; daughter-in-law, Linda Carius; and granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Carius.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Friendship Manor and Silver Cross Nursing Center for the loving care given to Kathleen while she made Friendship Manor her home.  Thank you also to Hospice Compassus for the compassionate care given to Kathleen during her last days.
