Kathryn "Katie" Marie Hofer, 89, of Rock Island, formerly of Taylor Ridge, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Silver Cross, Rock Island.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church or to Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Katie was born on September 1, 1933 in Muscatine, the daughter of Joseph and Frieda (Zeigler) Whitlock. She married Virgil Hofer on September 9, 1951. She retired as an office assistant at the Rock Island County Soil and Water Conservation District. Katie was an active member at Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church, partaking in the women's group, "TWIGS" and baking pies for the Rhubarb Festival in Aledo. She was also active in the Eastern Star, and the Farm Bureau in her earlier years. Katie enjoyed quilting, reading, and cooking/baking for friends and family. She and her husband, Virgil, attended every event possible if any of their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or friend's children were participating. Most of all she cherished her time with her family.
Katie is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Michael) Coyne, Phyllis (Michael) Wenthe, and Jeanette (Randy) Kreutner; grandchildren, Leslie (Robert) Neath, Tracy (Matthew) Van Sickle, Zack (Rachel) Wenthe, Alex (Tori) Wenthe, Tysin Kreutner, Ray Kreutner, and Koda Kreutner; 15 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Katherine Osborn; and multiple beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Lyle Whitlock.
