Katie B. Stewart, 83, of Port Byron, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.  Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Katie was born on September 2, 1933 in Preston, MS the daughter of Richard and Minnie (Gales) McClendon.  She married Leonard Stewart in 1960 in Mississippi, he preceded her in death in 1991.  Katie worked as a candy maker for Brach's.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening, watching western movies, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Katie is survived by her children, Leonard (Lisa) Stewart Jr., Betty (Greg) Lee, Lavonne Stewart, Minnie Lyle, and Raymond Stewart; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and eight siblings.
