Obituary

Kay Lynn York, 77, of Davenport, passed away Thursday July 9, 2026 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday July 15, 2026 at Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00pm Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the family.

Kay was born on September 27, 1948 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Beeman) Stoker. She married Michael Spanich in 1970, from that union they had two daughters, Amy and Sarah. Kay later married John York on June 26, 1993 in Illinois.

Kay had been the owner of Sonshine cleaning services for several years. Earlier she worked with several doctors as an office assistant.

Kay loved spending time with her family and was a devoted member of Bethel Assembly of God. Kay had previously been a member of Grace Methodist Church, Davenport, where she was active with choir, children’s choir and fellowship. She also had volunteered as a caregiver and earlier had played softball.

Survivors include her husband, John; children, Amy (Andrew) Kuchis, Sarah K. Spanich (Dan Micklewright), all of Davenport; grandchildren, Kelsey Fields, Dane Micklewright, Kylie Ayers; great grandchildren, Everly, Brody, Colton; her twin sister, Karen Burgus, Idaho and sister, Linda (Ellen) Guevel, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother in law, Steven Burgus and in laws, John and Louise York.
