Kendal Jamal Ritchie, 30, of North Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026 in Las Vegas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2026 at 2nd Baptist Church, 919 6th Avenue, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials can be made to the family at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union
Kendal was born February 1, 1996 in Moline, IL, the son of Louis and Thandra (Hannah) Ritchie. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geology from the University of Iowa in 2018.
Kendal began his professional employment with Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) in Coralville, Iowa, as a DNA Scientist and later worked with MSE in Las Vegas as an environmental scientist.
Kendal was a founding father and member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at the University of Iowa. He was a 2014 graduate of Davenport West High School and a member of the National Honor Society. He participated in Army ROTC, and also enjoyed track & field, baseball and basketball. Kendal was very passionate about the study of Geology and had a tremendous love for his dog Ruby.
Survivors include his mother, Thandra Ritchie, North Las Vegas; father, Louis (Katie) Ritchie Jr., Davenport; sister, Courtney Ritchie, Moline; maternal grandmother, Martha Hannah, North Las Vegas; paternal grandfather, Louis Ritchie Sr., Tuscon, Arizona; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Carolyn Hayes; and maternal grandfather, Theodore Roosevelt Hannah; paternal great-grandparents Charles and Darlene Moore. Maternal great-grandparents George and Remona Harper; maternal great-grandfather Hector ID Hannah and maternal great-grandmother Lannie Leora Harris.
