Kenneth R. Darland, 68, of Rock Island, died Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.  A visitation will be Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 1-3 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  A graveside service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Agency Cemetery, Agency, Iowa.  Memorials may be made in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center or to the family.

Kenneth was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on October 26, 1955, a son of Richard C. and Dorothy V. Bailey Darland.  He received his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University.

Kenneth retired as a sales representative from Verizon Wireless.

He enjoyed reading, science fiction, watching classic movies, writing, photography and woodworking.

Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Shirley Wiklund and Dennis Darland, both of Rock Island; nephews, Kevin (Kayleigh) Wiklund and Andrew (Elizabeth) Wiklund along with their children, Alexandria and Theodore Wiklund; many cousins; and long-time friends, Bruce, Kent and Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Kevin Wiklund and his beloved cat, Rosie.
