Kenneth E. Daxon, 81, of Bettendorf, formerly of Rock Island, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf.
Funeral services are 10 am on Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Masonic Home.
Ken was born Aug. 13, 1934 in Moline, a son of Joseph and Jeannette Johnson Daxon. He married Mary Lou Caby on Dec. 15, 1956 in Springfield, Ill. He graduated from Alleman High School in 1953. Ken worked at the Rock Island Arsenal doing design and graphics work. He retired in 1989 after 32 years of government service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran. Ken was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Susan Daxon, Davenport, and Steven and Julie Daxon, Bettendorf; daughter, Vicki Techau, Le Claire; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Oliver and Carol Elliott, both of Moline and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Daxon, mother and step-father, Jeannette and Sam Fox; brothers, Tom, Ron and Bob Daxon; and son-in-law, Bob Techau.
