Kenneth E. Parchert, 88, of Illinois City, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 8 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. Memorials may be made to the family or the church.

Kenneth was born March 19, 1934, in Rock Island County, a son of Maynard W. and Dorothy M. (McDonald) Parchert. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1952 and married Mary Lou Pagel on March 10, 1958. Kenneth worked in highway maintenance for the State of Illinois for 29 years. He was also a lifelong farmer. Kenneth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he had been a trustee and secretary of the congregation. He was also a former USDA poultry inspector, FFA member, 4-H leader, Rock Island County Fair Board member, and supervisor and trustee of Buffalo Prairie Township. Kenneth enjoyed deer hunting and farming. He also cherished time spent with his family.

Those left to honor Kenneth's memory include his wife, Mary Lou; children, Jeffrey (Denise) Parchert, Illinois City, Darren Parchert, Andalusia, Renee (John) End, Macclenny, FL, Rhonda Parchert, Moline, and Alan (Joan) Parchert, Illinois City; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Marc, Colten, Jenna, Jamie, Nicholas, Michael, Jessica, and Alan Jr.; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Kelly, Aledo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn Egland; and brothers-in-law, Vernon Egland and Bill Kelly.
