Obituary

Kenneth H. White, 64, of Rock Island, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Beulah Rural Township Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Kenny's family.

Kenny was born August 25, 1960, in Moline, to Richmond and Mary Jo (Weber) White. He married Joyce Severns on June 14, 1985. They later divorced. Kenny attended Orion High School and Moline High School, where he graduated.

Kenny was someone who was always there for anyone in need. He grew up on a farm just west of Beulah Presbyterian Church, where he was a constant companion to his Uncle Ronald. They did various jobs and chores, and Kenny could do no wrong in Uncle Ronald's eyes.

Kenny was a groundskeeper at Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island for many years and he was also a truck driver.

Kenny was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church, the Colona American Legion, Saturday night poker, and Friday nights at his grandson Tylor's house.

Kenny enjoyed spending time bowling, fishing, gardening, fixing things, and helping everyone. He loved the Chicago Bears and was an avid fan.

The most favorite thing in his life was spending time with his family – going to his great-granddaughters' softball games, birthdays, holidays, and traveling. He felt blessed to have such a supportive family. He always had a smile on his face when he could spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Kenny's memory include his daughter Dianna (Jayder) Downing, Rock Island; grandchildren Hailey (Shane) Cline, Carbon Cliff, Tylor (Manda) Severns, Colona, Paige (Mitch) Reddick, Moline, Sock (Val), Iowa City, James (Caitlin) Cline, Davenport, and Abygail Severns, East Moline; great-grandchildren Maddison, Seth, Khloe, Emberlynn, Cora, Jacie, Weston, Everly, and Alice; sister Carol Schoening; brother and best friend Ed Peterson; Aunt Jackie; and many nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his daughter Becky; Uncle Ronald; Aunt Joyce; brother Lester; sister Penny; sister-in-law Chrystyne; and best friend Gerry.

The family would like to thank everyone for the cards and support during this time, especially UnityPoint hospice, members of Beulah Presbyterian Church, and family and friends.

Online condolences and memories may be shared with Kenny's family on his tribute wall at www.wheelanpressly.com.
