Kerry L. Hatcher, 54, of Silvis, IL, passed away Tuesday December 29, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following complications from cancer and diabetes, both of which he courageously fought for many years.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services. Cremation will be accorded following services. Memorials may be made to the family for his grandchildren.
Kerry was born July 22, 1961 in Leon, Iowa, a son of Max L. and Carolyn J. (Hamilton) Hatcher. He married Gail S. Baird in 1984 in Moline, IL. They were later divorced.
Kerry was a painter for National Railway, Silvis. In earlier years, he had worked in construction in California and Texas.
He was an avid NASCAR ,Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. His favorite driver was Tony Stewart. Kerry enjoyed collecting NASCAR and Budweiser memorabilia, sports cards, and coins. He enjoyed cooking and making his homemade salsa.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Lacey M. and Steve Tjarks, Fairbury, IL; grandchildren, Jenna, Jayden "J.T.", and Ava Tjarks; life companion, Kathy Lake, Milan, IL; mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Larry Barnes, Geneseo, IL; brother, Kraig Hatcher, Colona, IL; sister, Kelly Johnson, Geneseo; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kerry was preceded in death by one grandson, Carter Tjarks; father, Max L. Hatcher; one brother, William Lee Hatcher; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Hilda Hamilton; and paternal grandparents, Bill and Maxine Denley.
