JOSEPH KEVIN ZERULL
J. Kevin Zerull, 63, of St. Augustine, Fla., formerly of Rock Island died July 21, 2014 at his home.
Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Kevin Zerull was born on November 6, 1950 in Rock Island, IL, the beloved son of Joseph and Henrietta Wheeler Zerull. He attended Alleman High School and St. Ambrose University where he received his BA in History and Sociology with teaching credentials for grades 7 – 12. Kevin entered the seminary at St. Ambrose and following graduation continued his preparation for the priesthood at Catholic University of America in Washington, D. C. He was ordained on June 5, 1976 and served the Peoria Diocese for 20 years. Following these years in ministry, Kevin worked in St. Augustine in sales positions until returning home to help care for his mother until she passed away in 2008. Kevin returned to St. Augustine, FL to enjoy the warm weather but "home" was always wherever family gathered!
Kevin gave his heart to his family and friends. He loved to make us laugh, to lead us in song and in prayer. He loved music and played the piano throughout his life.
Survivors include three sisters, Josetta (Bob) Mulvihill, Madison County, IA; Joyce Kuykendall, Hoffman Estates, IL; and Paula (Chuck) Burgmeier, Cedar Rapids, IA; 12 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
A special "Thank You" to Kevin Holton who has always been there for Kevin...a true friend.
